How does the final grade calculator work?
It uses the weighted grade formula. Your current grade counts for (100% - final worth) of your total, and your final exam counts for the rest. The calculator tells you the minimum score you need on the final to reach your target.
What is the formula?
Final grade needed = (desired grade - (current grade × (1 - final worth))) / final worth. Multiply by 100 to get a percentage.
Can I use this for any class?
Yes. As long as your teacher uses a weighted grading system (most do), this calculator works for any subject, any level — high school, college, or graduate school.
What if I get a result over 100%?
That means your target grade is mathematically impossible with your current grades and final weight. You'd need a score above 100% on the final. Talk to your teacher about extra credit options.
What if I get a result below 0%?
You've already secured your target grade. Even if you bomb the final, you'll still hit your goal. Congrats!
